Jackie Maloy McCormick

  Mrs. Jackie Maloy McCor-mick, age 72, of McDonough, Georgia died June 7, 2008. She was born in Henry County, the daughter of the late Mary Ruth and Thomas Daniel Maloy. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and dear friend who enjoyed gardening and especially raising tomatoes, cooking and watching cooking shows. Mrs. McCormick was preceded in death by husband, Carl James Schaneman and several siblings.

  Survivors include her children, Tonia and Mike Cline of McDonough, Carl Schaneman of Zebulon, Chris Schaneman of Rex and Caroline Schaneman of Kennesaw; nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren; brother, T. D. Maloy; numerous nieces and nephews.

Raleigh Marvin Ford

  Mr. Raleigh Marvin Ford, age 93, of McDonough, Georgia died June 7, 2008.  He was born in McDonough to the late Raleigh Franklin and Elizabeth Bonner Ford. Mr. Ford was a WWII veteteran. He loved the outdoors and was an avid Georgia Tech fan and had season tickets. But most important to him was his family. 

  Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Hazel Luella (Major) Ford of McDonough; sons, Eddie Ford of McDonough, Raleigh Calvin (Pam) Ford of Monticello; grandchildren, Denise (Jeff) Woodward of McDonough, Cal (Davina) Ford of McDonough, Stacy (Scott) Cronan of Monticello; seven  great grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; step-grandsons, Kevin Clark and Mark Pierce.

Frances Allen Fannin

  Frances Allen Fannin, age 76, of McDonough, Georgia died  June 13, 2008.  Frances was born in Covington, the daughter of Lollie Avery Allen and Will (W.J.) Allen and was one of three children. Frances retired from Southern Bell after a 30-year career. She re-entered the workforce and worked for a number of years at Piedmont Moulding and subsequently, Sporty Lady, in Conyers. She was an active and dedicated member of Timberridge Presbyterian Church for 47 years.  She was a loving “mother” to her family and to all children with whom she came into contact. She loved her flowers and doing for others.  She was married for 46 years to Rogers Fannin who preceded her in death. Also, preceding her in death were her brother Willie Clifford Allen and seven half-brothers and sisters – Bessie Cawthon, Essie Watts, Nina Moore, Gertrude Rosser, Emmett,  Linzy and Herman Allen.

  Survivors include her sister and brother-in-law Mary Smith Alessandri and Al Alessandri of McDonough; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and god-daughter Leigh De Lozier, and her dear friend, Thurman Rivers.

  Services were held  June 16 at Timberridge Presbyterian Church with Rev. Matt Allison and Rev. Keith Keller officiating. Interment Salem Baptist Church Cemetery. Marian Tomlinson

  Marian "Cookie" Tomlinson, age 81, of Stockbridge, Georgia  died June 13, 2008.  She was born in Sandersville to the late Carroll and Sarah McMillian Cook. She and her husband were members of the First Baptist Church of  Stockbridge since 1968. She taught at Stockbridge Junior High until 1975, volunteered with the American Cancer Society and Henry County Meals On Wheels, was a member of the Stockbridge Garden Club, and the Young At Heart group at her church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Lyman Tomlinson and her brother, Herman Benton Cook.

  “Cookie” is survived by daughters, Gail and Fred Haney, Sherry Poirier, both of Stockbridge; grandchildren, Lindy Donahue and Kyle Haney; sister, Carolyn and  Delbert Wilkes of Brunswick; sister-in-law, Pat Waguespack of  McDonough; several nieces and  nephews.

Patricia Eleanor Hammond Oakes

 Mrs. Patricia Eleanor Hammond Oakes, age 69, of McDonough, Georgia died June 16, 2008.  Mrs. Oakes was born in Lexington, Nebraska, the daughter of the late Bernice Beanblossom and Warren Hammond. Mrs. Oakes was a devoted mother and grandmother who enjoyed being with her family and friends, quilting and fishing. Her husband, Raymond Oakes and brother, Lee Hammond preceded her death.

  Survivors include her children, Pam Tauber (Mike) of Stockbridge, Michele Mizzell (Chris) of Acworth and Doug Delzell (Donna) of McDonough; stepdaughter, Vickie Haskin (Bob) of Littleton, Colorado; eight grandchildren; sister, Phyllis Burns of Lexington, Nebraska; several nieces and nephews.

Warner Phillips

  Warner Phillips, age 83, of Locust Grove, Georgia died  June 16, 2008.  He was born in Duluth to the late Charles Newton and Dessie Payne Phillips. Mr. Phillips was also preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Lee Waldrop Phillips and daughter, Debra Lucille Phillips.

Jack David Uselton Sr.

  Mr. Jack David Uselton Sr., age 67, of Fayetteville, Georgia died May 23, 2008. He was born in Atlanta to Jack Lawson and Helen Otella Thomas Uselton. His greatest love was his family and he enjoyed good food.

  Survivors include his wife, Judith Lisle Uselton of  Fayetteville; daughters, Tammy (Michael) Chupp of Hampton, Melody (Mark) Kersey of Lovejoy; sons, David (Staci) Uselton of McDonough, Dustin (Heather) Uselton; ten grandchildren, one great grandchild; brother, Lloyd Uselton of Chamblee.

Bradley Millsaps

  Mr. Bradley Millsaps, age 73, of Stockbridge, Georgia died  May 26, 2008. He was born in Mobile to the late Walter Dart and Helen Elizabeth Stepp Millsaps. Mr. Millsaps’ hobbies included sports, lawnmowers and trucks, but most important to him was his family and his grandchildren. 

  Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Lorene Millsaps of Stockbridge; children, Renee' Swann of Stockbridge, Brian Millsaps of McDonough, Greta Lorraine Reid of Stockbridge; nine grandchildren; and a sister, Patricia Golden.

Bobby Truelove

  Mr. Bobby Truelove, age 46, of Stockbridge, Georgia died Friday, May 30, 2008. He was born in Atlanta to Michael and Sarah Truelove. He was a member of First Christian Church, Stockbridge, an avid Georgia Bulldog fan and enjoyed singing and playing the guitar, but most of all he was a family man who loved his wife and children. Bobby was preceded in death by his brother, Steven Truelove.

  Survivors include his wife, Lynne’; children, Michael True-love and Lauren Truelove, both of Stockbridge; his parents, Michael and Sarah Truelove of  St. Augustine, Florida; sister, Nicole McCormick of St Augustine, Florida; grandmother, Frances Truelove; father and mother-in-law, Tommy and Corinne Brown of McDonough; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

James Lamar Freeman

  Mr. James Lamar Freeman, age 75, of McDonough, Georgia  died June 2, 2008.  He was born in Atlanta to the late Robert Leroy and Maggie Cleo Gray Freeman. He served his country in the United States Army; was a retired industrial printer; a member of Heatherwood Baptist Church in Riverdale; an avid runner, running 7 to 8 miles per day, and also having run the Peachtree Road Race over 20 times and the Marietta Labor Day Road Race over 12 times.

  Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Jean Freeman of McDonough; sons, Jimmy Freeman of Hampton, Keith (Julie) Freeman of Madison, Alabama, Kenny (Tania) Freeman of Greenbrier, Tennessee; daughters, Cheryl (Lou) Winters of Locust Grove, Sharon Payne of Flowery Branch; six grandchildren; mother-in-law, Virginia Cherry of McDonough; sister, Lucille Hall of Covington.

Grover C. Futch, Jr.

  Mr. Grover C. Futch, Jr., age 83, of McDonough, Georgia  died June 2, 2008. Mr. Futch was born September 16, 1924 in Bryan County, the sixth of eight children born to Cleveland and Esther Futch. The Futch family was one of the pioneering families in Southeast Georgia and he was also a descendent of three other families who were early settlers of this section of our state – Shuman, Downs and Woodcock. Mr. Futch was a member of the First Baptist Church of McDonough.  He was preceded in death by his infant daughter, parents, two brothers and four sisters.

  Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Mildred Mercer Futch; son, Mr. and Mrs. Gregory Futch of McDonough and grandchildren, Erin, Alan, Madison, Grant, and Garrett; daughter, Diane and Darryl Johnson of Watkinsville and grandchild, Josh Goodman; sister, Mrs. Mary Burnsed of Pembroke; many nieces, nephews; and a host of friends.

Larry G. Greene

  Mr. Larry G. Greene, age 54, of Stockbridge, Georgia died Mon-day, June 2, 2008. He was born in Atlanta to the late Tommie and Grace Branch Greene. Mr. Greene was involved with the bus ministry and children’s church at his church. He was an all around sports enthusiast. But most important to him was attending church, spending time with his wife and his children and grandchildren.

  Survivors include his wife, Brenda Greene; children, Brian (Katie) Page, Chris (Kim) Page, Mendi (Alan) Holtzclaw; 6 grandchildren; siblings, Brian Greene, Ray Greene, Carol Hutton, Gerald Greene, Don Greene, Susan Greene, and Margaret Mitchell; foster mother, Marion Carter, foster brothers, Danny Carter and Chuck Carter; and 22 nieces and nephews.

Robert C. Milligan

  Mr. Robert C. Milligan, age 89, of McDonough, Georgia died Monday, June 2, 2008. He was born in New York City, New York to the late Harold Vincent and Lucy Richardson Milligan.  He was a Captain with the U.S.  Public Health services and served our country as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army Medical Corp during WWII. His career was in public health, including several assignments for the World Health Organization. He had a passion for gardening most of his life. Mr. Milligan was also preceded in death by his wife, Jane Meyer Milligan.

  Survivors include his daughters, Delores (William) Watts of  Stockbridge, Dorri Melvin of Houston, Texas, and Holly Pitchell of San Diego, California; and two grandchildren. Susan Suda

  Mrs. Susan Suda, age 59, of McDonough, Georgia died June 3, 2008. Mrs. Suda was born in Concord, New Hampshire, the daughter of Roger Montgomery of Midlothian, Texas and Betty Montgomery of Groveton, New Hampshire. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and sister who enjoyed her family; she enjoyed the Boston Red Sox, sewing and knitting.

  Survivors include her husband, Gerald A. Suda of McDonough; children, Robin Reinkemeyer (Ross) of Jefferson City, Missouri, Cherlyn Gater (John) of Morrow, Melynda McElroy (Jeremy) of Crossville, Tennessee, Keith Badosky (Connie) of McDonough, Roger Badosky (Maria) of McDonough, Joseph Badosky (Lauren) of Marietta; 11 grandchildren; sisters, Donna Stinson (Robert), Karen Merrow (Scott) both of Groveton, New Hampshire; brother, Rick Montgomery of Groveton, New Hampshire, and William Montgomery (Roberta) of Midlothian, Texas.

Eric Allan Love

  Mr. Eric Allan Love, age 37, of McDonough, Georgia died Wed-nesday, June 4, 2008. He was born in East Point. Mr. Love was a member of St. James The Apostle Catholic Church. He enjoyed scuba diving, boating, camping, working on his motorcycle, and building fish aquariums. He was a member of the Plumber’s and Pipe Fitter’s Local #72.

  Survivors include his parents, William Allan and Leone Riddle Love of McDonough; son, Austin Allan Love of Villa Rica; nieces, Brittany Kay Love and Allison Danielle Love, both of Jonesboro.

  Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, June 7, 2008 at St. James The Apostle Catholic Church with Father John Murphy officiating. Gerald F. Kleine

  Mr. Gerald F. Kleine, age 71, of Locust Grove, Georgia died June 6, 2008.  Mr. Kleine was born in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of the late Valerie Garthoffner and George R. Kleine. He served his country in the U.S. Navy, he retired as an Air Traffic Controller with 40 plus years of service, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother who enjoyed his family, golf, traveling, cruises and gambling.

  Survivors include his wife, Peggy Kleine of Locust Grove;  children, Chris and Cathy Kleine of Jacksonville, Florida, Todd and Tracie Kleine of Smyrna, James and Stephanie Mudge of San Juan, Puerto Rico, Tony and  Kim Biles of Jackson,  and Robb and Nikki Verna of Kennesaw; brothers, Richard Kleine of Bettendorf, Iowa, Robert Kleine of St. Louis and George Kleine, both of St. Louis, Missouri; sister, Mary Jean Trieschmann of St. Louis, Missouri; ten grandchildren, two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Aiden Michael Bloodworth

  Master Aiden Michael Bloodworth, infant son of Candace Diane Harper and Joseph Nelson Bloodworth of Conyers, Georgia, died May 26, 2008.

  He is survived by grandparents, Lee Katheryn Timbs of McDonough, Jennie and Nelson Bloodworth of Conyers; great grandparents, William and Madeline Kelly of McDonough, Clyde Johnson of Macon, and Ruth Bloodworth of Newnan; aunts, uncles and cousins.

Mack Cockrell

  Mr. Mack Cockrell, age 86, of McDonough, Georgia died May 26, 2008. He was the third of 15 children of the late Laura Maude Oswalt Cockrell and Roy Sylvester Cockrell of Taylor's Branch, Texas near Killeen.  Mack was a 30-year veteran, enlisting in the Army Air Corps in January, 1942. He served in the Berlin Air Lift, Korean War, Vietnam, and many other assignments throughout Europe and the Pacific. He retired from the United States Air Force in July, 1973. He loved baseball, hunting, fishing, and golf. He was preceded in death by Janie Marie Hillyard Cockrell, Wilford Walker Cockrell, James Weldon Cockrell, Evelyn Marie Cockrell Mitchell, Leroy Cockrell, Gordon Allen Cockrell, and Elsie Arlene Cockrell Melville.

      Survivors include his wife, Marion Agnes Dietke Cockrell of McDonough; daughter Linda Sue Cockrell Christenson of McDonough; son Mickie  Cockrell of Middleton, Idaho; brothers Norman, George, and Dick; and sisters Delrie, Tiny, Margaret, Elizabeth, and Katy.  He is also survived by two grandchildren.

Antonio Negron

  Mr. Antonio Negron, age 70, of Hampton, Georgia died May 26, 2008. Mr. Negron was born in Puerto Rico, the son of the late Georgina Torres and Antonio Negron. He was a devoted family man who enjoyed his family and watching sports on TV. Mr. Negron was preceded in death by siblings, Ariel Negron, Ruben Negron and Miguel A. Negron.

  Survivors are his wife, Edna Batista Negron of Hampton; children, Edna Negron and Barbara Fleuriot of New York, Caridad Negron of McDonough and Julio Rosario of Rex; nine  grandchildren and three great grandchildren; siblings Doris Negron, Maritisa Negron, Mirian Negron, Noemi Negron, Luis Negron, Melvin Negron and Juan Negron; numerous nieces and nephews.

Oscar Junior Card

  Mr. Oscar Junior “J.C.” Card of McDonough, Georgia died May 27, 2008. He was born in Shuqualak, Mississippi, the son of the late Ada Mae Prisock and Andrew Jackson Card. Mr. Card was a self employed carpenter for 30 years, he served his country in the US Navy, was a member of The Village Church, enjoyed hunting, fishing, wrestling and story telling. His wife, Margaret E. Lee Card preceded him in death.

  Survivors are his children, Susan Card Voyles (Lee) of McDonough, Loretta C. Kong-phila (Houmpheng) of Jones-boro, and Jill Hazard (Peter) of Jonesboro; grandchildren, Jason, Justin, Jennifer Voyles, Holly, Shoshana, Dakota Kongphila, Hunter, Caitlyn Card, Jackee, Jeremy Hazard, and Michael Jr., Ashley, John Bearden; and five  great grandchildren.

Carol Ann Dowd

  Mrs. Carol Ann Dowd, age 63, of McDonough, Georgia, formerly of Fredericksburg, Virginia, died May 28, 2008.  Mrs. Dowd was born in Washington, D.C., the daughter of the late Mae Swope and Wilbur William Wilkin. She was a devoted homemaker, enjoyed being with her family and friends, she had an outgoing, loving personality, enjoyed her antique shop, shopping, and movies. Mrs. Dowd was a member of Saumsville Christian Church in Woodstock Virginia.  

  Survivors include her husband Jim Dowd of McDonough;  children Stacie Saemann and husband Mark of Fredericksburg, Virginia, Roger Dowd and wife Maria Heckscher of Atlanta and Michael Dowd of Boulder, Colorado; grandchildren Jennifer and Ashley Saemann of Fredericksburg, Virginia and Sophia Dowd of Atlanta; several nieces and nephews.

John Harold Guy

  Mr. John Harold Guy, age 63, of McDonough, Georgia died  May 29, 2008. Mr. Guy was born in Fairmont, Minnesota, the son of the late LaVonne Berneice Johnson and George Harold Guy. He retired with the US Army and the US Civil Service Department. He was a member of the Lake Spivey Senior Golf League, he enjoyed cooking and going to Biloxi. Mr. Guy was preceded in death by his wife, HyoSun Pak Guy and a brother, Larry Guy.

  Survivors are his children, Ralph and Heather Guy of McDonough, Tommie Guy of McDonough and Bryan Guy of Minnesota; sisters, Jolene Morrow of California and Susan Langford of Arizona.  Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Grace Griffith

 Mrs. Grace Griffith, age 91, of Hampton, Georgia died May 23, 2008 at her residence. She was born in Fulton County to the late John Wesley and Eva Mae Owen Fretwell. Grace was preceded in death by her husband, Paul David Griffith, Jr. and by sons, Roy Haynes Morris and John Marvin Morris.

 Survivors include daughter and son in law, Hazel (David) McCrite of Hampton; son and daughter in law, Curtis (Mary Pat) Griffith of Morrow; five grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren; sister and brother in law, Elsie (Jay) Mullinex of Memphis, Tennessee; numerous nieces and nephews.

John Cardwell

 John Cardwell, also known as "One Shot", age 82, of McDonough died May 24, 2008. He was born in LaGrange to the late John Robert and Bessie Iula Cardwell. Mr. Cardwell was a member of Eagles Landing First Baptist Church. John was an owner operator of Georgia Highway Express. John professionally drove his truck for 50 years. He was preceded in death by his spouse Chloe Culpepper Cardwell.

 Mr. Cardwell is survived by daughter; Donna Fisher of Raleigh, North Carolina, son; Johnny (Dawn) Cardwell of Jonesboro and granddaughter; Kristen (Rankin) Muse of Raleigh, North Carolina. Great grandchildren; Bradley and Rylee Muse of Raleigh, North Carolina.

James F. Bagby

  Mr. James F. Bagby, age 79, of McDonough, Georgia died May 12, 2008. He was born in Hawkinsville to the late James Howard and Eva Kate Brownlee Bagby. Mr. Bagby served his country in the United States Navy from 1946 to 1948; and in the United States Coast Guard from 1948 to 1965. He was a member of the McDonough First United Methodist Church. He was an avid reader who enjoyed fly tying, hunting, and gardening. He was preceded in death by a sister, Anna Kate Bagby.

  Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Louise Bagby of McDonough; children, Karen (Bruce) Dietrich of Tallahassee, Florida, Pamela Bagby of Cuthbert, John (Pepper) Bagby of Locust Grove, Lora Bagby of McDonough; grandchildren, Drew and Kurt Dietrich, Amanda, Devin, and Jonathan Bagby; sisters, Sarah Gainey of Tallahassee, Florida, Henrietta Lucas of Aiken, South Carolina; numerous nieces and nephews.

George K. Bailey

George K. Bailey, age 72, of Stockbridge, Georgia since 1974, died May 17, 2008. Born in Charleston, West Virginia, the son of the late  Shurley and Margaret Thaxton Bailey.  George served proudly in the United States Marine Corp, receiving his discharge in 1962 at Quantico, Virginia. Mr. Bailey is predeceased by his mother and father, along with brothers; Eugene, Lloyd and Ben Bailey, sisters; Virginia Lott and Mary Ann Yoak.

  Survivors include his wife  Sylvia; sisters Louise Wells and

Naomi Hayes of Florida, Elizabeth Coiner, Helen (Carl Francisco) and Alma Bell of Charleston, West Virginia; brother-in-law Norman (Rose) Foster of Virginia Beach, Virginia; 36 nieces and nephews.

Hunter Leedy Boice

  Hunter Leedy "Bud" Boice, age 85, Stockbridge, Georgia, died  May 1, 2008.  He was born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina to John Boice and Mary Leedy. He retired from the Ohio Youth Commission and is a World War II and Korean War Veteran.  He was a member of Rodney United Methodist Church, Master Mason of the Grand Lodge of Columbus, Ohio, avid amateur radio operator and train enthusiast. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Elizabeth Boice, sister Mary and brother John.

  Survivors include daughter Tracey (James) Hood, of Stockbridge; son Hunter L. Boice of St. Petersburg, Florida; granddaughter Heather (Roman) Pracko of Acworth; sister Ida Elizabeth Boice of Winchester-Canal, Ohio; and his kitten, "Amos."

  Mr. James W. Kinard of Stockbridge, Georgia died May 9, 2008.

Joseph Darrell Tanner

  Mr. Joseph Darrell Tanner, age 49 of McDonough, Georgia  died April 28, 2008. He was born in Atlanta to Dorothy Geraldine Smith and Joe W. Tanner. Darrell graduated from Henry County High School in 1976 and had worked for Delta Airlines for over 20 years. He was a member of Lake Cindy Baptist Church; was an avid bowler, sports enthusiast, and enjoyed good music. He was preceded in death by his wife, Debbie Jean McTaggart Tanner.

  Survivors include his daughter, Kristi Tanner of McDonough; mother, Geraldine Tanner of Hampton; father, Joe W. Tanner of Hampton; special friend, Karen Hooten of McDonough.

Carolyn Biagi Ludack

  Mrs. Carolyn Biagi Ludack, age 64 of McDonough, Georgia  and Naples, Florida died May 3, 2008. She was born in Detroit, Michigan to the late Charles and Dina Marchioni Biagi. Carolyn graduated from Eastern Mich-igan University and was a member of the Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority. She retired from the BMA Dialysis Center in Naples; was a parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Naples; and attended St. James the Apostle Catholic Church while in McDonough. She enjoyed woodworking and craft shows. She was preceded in death by a son, David Michael Ludack.

  Survivors include her husband, Tom Ludack of McDonough; daughters and sons-in-law, Susan (Richie) Caron of Jackson, Jaime (Eric) Mitchell of McDonough; granddaughters, Isabella Mitchell and Kiersten Caron; brother and sister-in-law, Charles (Carol) Biagi of Bellingham, Washing-ton; numerous other family and friends.

Bobby Curtis

  Mr. Bobby Curtis, age 62 of Jonesboro, Georgia died May 4, 2008. Bobby was born in Columbus, Georgia to the late Lloyd Robert Curtis and Lenna Mae Carter. Bobby was a hardworking, honest man that loved his family and friends. He loved his girls and spoiled his grandchildren rotten. Bobby enjoyed to golf and watch his beloved Georgia Bulldogs. Bobby and his wife Delores started their lives together on May 8, 1972. He was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Anderson.

Christopher James Evans

  Mr. Christopher James Evans, age 55, of McDonough, Georgia  died May 4, 2008. Mr. Evans was born in Johnson City, New York, the son of the late Beverley Earle Evans and Isabella Mary Hahn.  He served his country in the U.S. Navy and  was a member of Glen Haven Baptist Church. Mr. Evans was employed by Cameron and Barkley as an account representative.

  He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Sue Brown Evans of McDonough; son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Julie Evans of Mableton; siblings, Charles Evans, Carol Urmy,  Charlotte Stockdale, and Robert Evans; numerous nieces and nephews.

  Services will be Friday, May 9, at 11:00 a.m. at Glen Haven Baptist Church with Rev. Ralph Easterwood officiating. Interment Haisten/Eastlawn Memorial Park. Sarah Frances Posey Koenig

  Mrs. Sarah Frances Posey Koenig, age 78, of McDonough, Georgia died May 4, 2008.  Mrs. Koenig was born in McCaysville, Georgia the daughter of the late Bessie Anna Perryman and James Daniel Posey. Mrs. Koenig was a member of Morrow First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed swimming, her animals and working with puzzles. Her husband, John Henry Koenig, Jr. and several siblings preceded her in death.

Lucy Mae Turner Echols

  Mrs. Lucy Mae Turner Echols, age 95, of McDonough, Georgia died April 22, 2008. Mrs. Echols was born in Butts County the daughter of the late Phoebe Jane Ellis and Oscar E. Turner.  Mrs. Echols was a lifelong member of McDonough First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed traveling and spending her vacations with family in Hawaii. She was an excellent seamstress; she enjoyed cooking and was known for her sweet potato pies. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard G. Echols; daughters, Phoebe Jane Echols and Glenda Echols Smith. 

  Survivors are her granddaughters, Camille (Russell) Sain of Atlanta and Kimberly (James) Ellis of Boca Raton, Florida; great granddaughters, Abbigail Camille Sain and Catie Sain.

 Wendell H. Rose

  Mr. Wendell H. Rose, age 66, of McDonough, Georgia died  April 22, 2008. He was born in Clintwood, Virginia to the late Linden Clarence and Dossie (Fleming) Rose. Mr. Rose attended Henry Baptist Church. He loved studying his Bible, gospel music and attending the three yearly reunions. He was a man of many talents, including plumbing, maintenance work and automotive upholstery. But most important to him was gathering with friends and family, especially watching and attending his grandchildren’s activities. Mr. Rose was preceded in death by his grandson, Joshua Gray; brothers, L.C. Rose and Hugh Lynn Rose; sisters, Ava Rose, Lorraine Rose and Geneva Deel.

Opal Lee Cochran Gardiner

  Mrs. Opal Lee Cochran Gardiner, 84 of McDonough, Georgia died April 24, 2008.   Mrs. Gardiner enjoyed spending time with her family; she especially enjoyed cooking the family dinner every Sunday. Mrs. Gardiner was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth T. Gardiner.

Jim Cowart

  Mr. Jim Cowart, age 83, of Stockbridge, Georgia died Friday, April 25, 2008. He was born in Edison to the late Amaziah Pilcher and Alice Eudora Webb Cowart. Mr. Cowart was a Navy pilot during WWII and retired after 32 years with Delta Airlines as a flight instructor. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Tabernacle, a member of Stockbridge Masonic Lodge #691, and a Shriner. He was  preceded in death by his first wife, Irene Jarman Cowart and siblings J.P., Mary, Susie Mae, and Charles Cowart.

  Mr. Cowart is survived by his wife, Clarine Lee Cowart of  Stockbridge; sons, Eric P. Cowart of Conyers,  James S. Cowart of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Jack  R. Cowart of  Stockbridge; daughter, Brenda G. Solomon of Corpus Cristi, Texas; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

  Mr. Coty Ray Clontz, age 19,  of Locust Grove, Georgia  died April 14, 2008. Coty was born in Griffin, Georgia and celebrated life everyday. He was an avid skateboarder and enjoyed good music and spending time with his friends. His family and friends will always remember Coty as an Ambassador of Good Will.   Mrs. Minnie Mae Cook, age 94 of McDonough, Georgia died April 17, 2008. She was born in Lovejoy to the late Pero and Eva Etta Lambert Betsill. She was a member of the Forest Park Second Baptist Church and enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, William Durell Cook; brothers, Gentry and J.P. Betsill; and a grandson, Bill Houston.

Bobby E. Early

  Bobby E. Early, age 78, of Jonesboro, Georgia died Wednesday, March 26, 2008. He was born in Fairview, North Carolina to the late Dwight Gladstone and Rosa Norman Early. Mr. Early attended Jonesboro United Methodist Church. He served 21 years in the Air Force, was very patriotic and very proud of serving in the Military. He retired from Northwest Airlines and became involved with different senior groups and was always on the go. He loved to square dance, enjoyed golfing, traveling, and doing things with his friends. But most of all he loved his family. He was preceded in death by his wife Patsy Ruth Early; brothers, Billy T. Early, Jack P. Early, Dwight G. Early, Sr. and a special friend, Juanita Comer with whom he spent 16 years.

  Survivors are his daughter, Deborah J. Early of   Hendersonville, North Carolina; sisters, Lillie Early Fite of Fairview, North Carolina, Nancy E. Worley and Judy M. Camby, both of Swannanoa, North Carolina; brothers, Donald Early of Asheville, North Carolina, Jerry Early of Raleigh, North Carolina, Richard Early of Pisgah Forest, North Carolina.  Hazel Lee Bartlett

  Hazel Lee Bartlett, a devoted wife of 64 years, loving mother of three daughters and two sons, endeared grandmother and great-grandmother and faithful friend to many, died at the age of 79 on April 1, 2008. She was always known as Granny, loving and caring for any who came to her door. She was born in Madison, Georgia  to the late Lankford and Ina Lee Thurman Williams. She was the wife of a World War II Veteran, carpenter and steel worker, and the love of her life, Junior. She enjoyed music, cooking, the beach, outdoors and spending as much time as she could with her family.

  Survivors include her husband, John  H.   Lorene Seal, age 77, of McDonough, Georgia died Friday, April 4, 2008. She was born in Morristown, Tennessee to the late James and Virgie Gill Knight.   Mr. James G. “Bud” Phillips, age 90, of Riverdale, Georgia died April 5, 2008. Mr. Phillips was born in Henry County the son of the late Jesse H. and Cora O. Phillips of the Kelleytown community. He served his country in the US Army from 1943-1946. He was a member of Anvil Block United Methodist Church. Bud was a loyal member and brother to the American Legion Post 55, Riverdale Masonic Lodge 709, and Past President Arab Guard of Yaarab Temple. He was preceded in death by a son, James H. Phillips.

  Survivors are his loving wife of 65 years, Mary A. Phillips; son, Daniel A. Phillips; grandchildren, Tiffany Phillips and Derek Phillips and four great grand children; sisters, Martha P. Janelle Parker Grellman

  Mrs. Janelle Parker Grellman, age 70, of Hampton, Georgia  died April 6, 2008. Mrs. Grellman was born in Clayton County the daughter of the late Ora Luana Johnson and Carl Jackson Parker. She was a divine Christian woman who enjoyed working with and corresponding with missionaries, she was a member of Liberty Hill Baptist Church where she sang in the choir with her beautiful alto voice before becoming ill. Mrs. Grellman enjoyed flowers and cooking.

Catherine Hightower Stroud

  Mrs. Catherine Hightower Stroud, age 92, of McDonough, Georgia died April 6, 2008.  Mrs. Stroud was born in Henry County the daughter of the late Jessie Weems and Henry Clinton Hightower. She was a member of McDonough Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Stroud was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother who enjoyed her family and friends, reading and camping. Her husband, James Earl Stroud, Sr.; sister, Marie Hightower Copeland; brother, Clinton Weems Hightower preceded her in death.

  Jewel Modena Vaughn, age 99, of McDonough, Georgia died Sunday, April 6, 2008.  She was born in Terral, Oklahoma to the late George and Priscilla Winningham Johnson. She was a member of  First United Methodist Church of McDonough. Mrs. Vaughn was  preceded in death by her husband, Vestal Vaughn, Sr. and sons, Vestal Vaughn, Jr. and Kenneth Vaughn.

  James L. "Jim" Whitaker, age 70, of McDonough, Georgia  died April 8, 2008.  He was born in Hampton to Edna Huckaby Whitaker and the late James L. Whitaker. Mr. Whitaker was a Navy veteran. He loved to play golf and enjoyed gardening. But most important to him was his family; especially his grandson.

Mildred Fowler Powell

  Mrs. Mildred Fowler Powell, age 83, of McDonough, Georgia died April 10, 2008. Mrs. Powell was born in Worth County the daughter of the late Alton G. and Argie Branch Fowler. She was a member of Flippen United Methodist Church. Mrs. Powell was preceded in death by her husband, James Gordon Powell; brothers, Ellis Fowler, Carson Fowler and Joseph Fowler.

  Survivors are her children, Kathryn and Toby Turner of Valrico, Florida, Alvin and Yvonne Powell of Stockbridge, and Ernest “Ernie” and Susan Powell of McDonough; five grandchildren, James Turner, Karen Turner, Jason Powell, Crystal Bing, and Bryant Bond; three great grandchildren, Kameryn Powell, Jamie Turner and Alexandra Williams; sisters, Montez Giles of Jackson, Linda Gail Davis of McDonough; brother, Garvin Fowler of Sylvester; numerous nieces and nephews.

Daniel Butler Ahler, Jr.

  Mr. Daniel (Bud) Butler Ahler, Jr., age 90, died April 12, 2008. Bud was born in Frankfort, Kentucky, the eldest of the six children of Daniel B. Ahler, Sr. and Caroline Margaret (Yagel) Ahler. Bud served in the Army Air Corps working as a pilot and then took these skills to the Bendix Corporation as field service engineer after being honorably discharged. Before retiring from Bendix in 1982, Bud traveled extensively lending his expertise to many projects, including the C-5A military transport’s landing gear and the SR-71 in the 1960s with Lockheed. Bud was a long time resident of East Point and a faithful member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hapeville, prior to moving to McDonough several years ago to be closer to his daughter Marian, who was his care giver in his final years. His wife, Mona Lee (Ware) Ahler, preceded him in death.

   He is survived by his brother Harold Joseph Ahler of Frankfort, Kentucky, his sister Eileen Frances Ahler of Jackson, New Jersey, and his two daughters, Marian Eileen Ahler of McDonough, and Karen Lee Ahler of Louisville, Kentucky.

  A funeral Mass will be held at St. James the Apostle Catholic Church in McDonough April 17, at 11:00 a.m.  with Father John Murphy officiating.  Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery in College Park. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Charles Edward Johnson

  Mr. Charles Edward Johnson, age 81, of McDonough, Georgia died April 12, 2008. Mr. Johnson was born in Fulton County, the son of the late Marie Pelot and James Lee Johnson.  Mr. Johnson served his country in the US Navy from 1944 to  1946. He retired from Sears with 32 years of service. He was an active member of Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church. He enjoyed working in his yard and cooking. He was preceded in death by a brother, James Clifford Johnson.

  Survivors are his wife of fifty years, Rebecca Paschal Johnson of McDonough; children, Charles Edward Johnson Jr. of McDonough, Ellen Johnson of Rome, David and Tammy Johnson of McDonough;  grandchildren, Jeremy, Josh, Mary, Sam, Mark, Thomas, Timothy, and Emily; great grandchildren, Dakota and Gavin; niece, Kelley Ann and David Bell of McDonough; several nieces and nephews.

Marilyn Louise Ensley Cheshire

  Mrs. Marilyn Louise Ensley Cheshire, age 60 of Jackson, Georgia died April 13, 2008.  She was born in Murphy, North Carolina to the late Floyd R. Ensley Jr. and the late Lucille Campbell Ensley. Marilyn was a member of Bible Baptist Church in Hampton, where she taught Sunday School and the Children’s Church Service. She enjoyed reading and cooking.  She was preceded in death by a brother, Doug Ensley and a sister, Oneta Ensley.

  Survivors include her husband of 36 years, Ron Cheshire of Jackson; brothers, Michael Ensley of Michigan, Mark Ensley of Statesboro, John Ensley of Riverdale, and David Ensley of McDonough; numerous nieces and nephews.

 Terry Clark

  Mr. Terry Clark, age 60, of Locust Grove, Georgia died  April 14, 2008. He was born in Oxford, Mississippi to the late Tobe and Bertha Clark. Mr. Clark was formerly a firefighter, served as fire chief, was an instructor with the Arkansas Fire Training Academy and an adjutant with the National Fire Training Academy. He was a member of  Locust Grove United Methodist Church, a Mason, a Shriner and a member of Henry Medical Center Auxillary. Terry was a wonderfully unique man. He loved his God, he loved his family and he loved people. Some of his most treasured moments were spent outdoors hunting and fishing. He could talk to kings as easily as paupers, and most of all he had the gift of mercy which the Lord used every day to help whomever came into his life. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Troy Clark and Dwight Clark.

  Mr. Clark is survived by his wife, Susan Spraberry Clark of Locust Grove; children, Tammy (Harmon) Hopwood of  Mayfield, Kentucky, Randall (Sara) Tyer of Milledgeville, Andrew (Elizabeth) Tyer of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and Toby (Letha) Clark of Marion, Arkansas; eight beautiful granddaughters, Emalee, Karee, Sharee, Beth, Ashley, Alston, Avery and Eliza; siblings, Roy Clark of Oxford, Mississippi,  Louise Watson of Bruce, Mississippi, Frances Gentry of Glendora, Mississippi, Peggie Chrestman of Ponotoc,  Mississippi and Carol Cowsert, of Bruce, Mississippi.

Bertrice Hall Hallman

  Mrs. Bertrice Hall Hallman, age 90 of Hampton, Georgia  died April 14, 2008. She was born in Alabama to the late M.A. and Ruby Vincent Hallman.  She worked for Holberg’s Hardware in Griffin and the American Mills. She was a member of the Hampton First Baptist Church.  She was a member of the original Hampton Chapter 361 of the Eastern Star for 27 years and later became a member in 1991 until the present. She enjoyed plants and piece quilting. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Milton Lowry Hallman, Sr.; a daughter, Rebecca Hallman; a son, Milton Hallman, Jr.; and by 11 brothers and sisters.

   Survivors include her daughters, Janice (Terry) Harp of McDonough, Debra (Bob) Cook of Davie, Florida; seven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter; numerous nieces and nephews.

Clem H. Fortner

 Clem H. (Foots) Fortner, age 90, of McDonough, Georgia,  died March 14, 2008. He retired in 1967, after more than 26 years of service with the Atlanta Police Department attaining the rank of Lieutenant. He then worked for almost twenty years with the Fulton County Public Defender's Office as an investigator.  He was a Ham Radio Operator (K4PKQ), a member of Grant Park Masonic Lodge, the International Brotherhood of Magicians, past-president of the Georgia Magic Club Ring 9, the Atlanta Society of Magicians, the North Amer-ican Association of Ventril-oquists, Fraternal Order of Police, Peace Officers Association of Georgia, and Saint Joseph's Episcopal Church. Mr. Fortner, known as "Fortner the Merry Magician," was a professional magician for more than sixty-five years.  He was a master of the craft of close-up magic, ventriloquism and mentalism. He generously gave his time to help budding magicians learn the craft of magic and ventriloquism.  Mr. Fortner was preceded in death by Ruby Ridling Fortner, his wife of sixty years.

  Survivors include daughter, Judy Carole Fortner Stone of McDonough, son, Thomas H. (Tom) Fortner; granddaughters, Terri Echols Santacroce and Christie Shackelford Jarrio; grandsons, Charles H. Fortner and Thomas E. (Ted) Fortner; his great grandson, Evan Santacroce; and a beloved companion, Jean Bradley.

  Services were held at Saint Joseph's Episcopal Church on April 12. Randy Scarborough

  Mr. Randy Scarborough, age 72 of Stockbridge, Georgia died March 19, 2008. He was born in Florida to the late Charlie Elrod and Verdie Bloodworth Scarborough. He served his country in the United States Navy and retired after 27 years with Delta Airlines. Randy enjoyed fishing, traveling, and golf.

  Survivors include his wife, Eunice Trammel Scarborough of Stockbridge; brother, Jerry (Dixie) Scarborough of Arizona; and a niece, Kimberly Scarborough of Arizona.

Robert Edgar Ausband, Sr.

 Robert Edgar “Eddie” Ausband, Sr., age 71, of McDonough, died April 1, 2008. He was born in Atlanta to the late Pearl Earnest and Mary Lee Owen Ausband of Kelleytown. Eddie served in the United States Army. He graduated from Henry County High School in 1955 and the University of Georgia in 1959 with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. He was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. He began his professional career in pharmaceutical sales in 1963, and he retired as a regional Vice President after thirty-seven years with the same company.  Eddie was a member of the First Baptist Church of McDonough. He served as a Deacon, Sunday School Director, and Sunday School Teacher. His life was devoted to his faith and his loving and devout wife of forty-eight years, his family, his passion for travel, and family vacations in Longboat Key, Florida, Crested Butte, Colorado, and Jackson Lake.  

  Eddie is survived by his wife of forty-eight years, Sarah “Ease” Carmichael Ausband; children, Robert Edgar Ausband, Jr. and wife Allison of McDonough, Andrew Carmichael Ausband and wife Elizabeth of Atlanta, Joseph Bradley Ausband and wife Valerie of Atlanta, Angela Ausband Stewart and husband Bryan of McDonough; ten grandchildren, McKenzie Lynn Ausband, Shelby Carmichael Ausband, Robert Edgar Ausband, III, Wakefield Brock Ausband, Neely Carmichael Ausband, Elizabeth Andrew Ausband, Joseph Tucker Ausband, Bryan Dade Stewart, Jr., Talmedge Ausband Stewart, Coleman Owen Stewart; sister, Sara Ann Hightower of  McDonough; several nieces and nephews.

  Mildred (Millie) Pipkin, age 82, of McDonough, Georgia  died April 1, 2008. She was born in Electra, Texas to the late Robert Henry and Ruth Bowman Tilley. Mrs. Pipkin was a member of the First Baptist Church of McDonough and the Faith Sunday School Class. She retired from South Fulton Hospital in 1988. Most important to her was her family. She was a wonderful wife and a caring mother and grandmother.

  Mrs. Dorothy Dial Bryan, age 89 of McDonough, Georgia died April 3, 2008.  She was born in Atlanta to the late Oscar and Mattie Lou Cheney Dial. She retired after 27 years with the State of Georgia, having worked for the Georgia State Patrol and Medicaid. Dorothy was a member of Salem Baptist Church and enjoyed baking, arts and crafts and spending time with all of her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert Francis Bryan and her son, Larry Bryan.

  Kenneth Ray Reynolds, age 49, of Hampton, Georgia died Friday, April 4, 2008. He was born in Bennettsville, South Carolina to the late Earnest Harrison and Sarah Elizabeth Therrell Rey-nolds. Mr. Reynolds was employed with Mid-South Lumber Company.

  Mr. Earl Victor Edwards, age 89 of McDonough, Georgia died April 5, 2008. He was born in Alabama to the late William and Emma Ella Idella Barnett Edwards. He served his country in the United States Navy during WWII; was retired after 20 years with the American Can Company and enjoyed his fishing trips. He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

  Hazel Mitchell Bowman, age 80, of McDonough, Georgia died  March 30, 2008.  She was born in Newhall, West Virginia to the late John A. and Nettie Elsie Baldwin Mitchell. Ms. Bowman was a member of True Christian Fellowship in McDonough and was very devoted to her church, her family, and friends.

  Ms. Bowman is survived by her daughter, Sue DeBord of McDonough; sons, Lloyd W. Bowman of  North Tazewell, Virginia; Alvin F. Bowman of Monticello; three  grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

  Services will be held April 3 at El Bethel House of God in Cedar Bluff, Virginia  with Pastor Sammy Barnett and Pastor Robert Denson Sr. officiating. Douglas Lee Hamby. Sr.

  Mr. Douglas Lee Hamby Sr., age 74, of McDonough, Georgia died March 13, 2008.  Mr. Hamby was born in DeKalb County, the son of the late Lillie Mae Lee and Leon Doris Hamby.  He retired from Delta Air Lines as an aircraft mechanic and he served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps for 13 plus years. Mr. Hamby was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.  He was a University of Georgia Bulldog fan and enjoyed playing golf.  He was preceded in death by an infant son, Christopher Hamby.

  Survivors are his wife, Mary Hamby of McDonough; children, Douglas Lee Hamby, Jr., William Neal Hamby, John Bradford Hamby, Ann Laurie Palka; step children, Andre Rene Champagne, Christopher Aime Champagne, and Noel Hector Champagne; sisters, Kathy Frost and Judy Turner; brother, Robert Hamby; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

  Services were held at his residence. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make donations to the American Lung Association of Georgia for research. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Ginnie Booth

  Ginnie Booth, age 57, of McDonough, Georgia died March 16, 2008. She was born in Mobile, Alabama to the late Harry and Ann Laurie Dozier Shirah. She loved art, history (biblical history was her favorite) and of course, coffee. She also loved her labradoodle dog, Winter.

  Ms. Booth is survived by her sons, Jackson (Stacy) Booth of McDonough and Jeff (Meg) Booth of Valdosta; grandchildren, Noah, Lindsey, Camryn, Hanna, and Nathan; brothers, Dan (Freda) Shirah of Birmingham, Skip (Maureen) Shirah and Mike Shirah, both of Mobile, Alabama.

Harold Don Gilliam, Sr.

  Mr. Harold Don Gilliam Sr., age 73, of McDonough, Georgia  died March 17, 2008. Mr. Gilliam was born in Cordele,  the son of the late Nellie Boalch and R.D. Gilliam. He served his country in the US Navy. Mr. Gilliam was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed his family and friends.  He was a hard working individual who was self employed in construction most of his working career. Mr. Gilliam enjoyed dancing, cars, fishing, riding the countryside, and sharing jokes.  He was preceded in death by a son, Michael Shane Gilliam. 

  Survivors include his wife, Joyce Gilliam of McDonough; children, Vickie Gilliam of Hampton, Donna Gilliam of McDonough, and Harold (Allyson) Gilliam, Jr. , Kim (Todd) Steele and Todd Gilliam, all of McDonough; ten grandchildren, four great grandchildren; brothers, R. J. Gilliam of Lithia Springs, Bobby Gilliam of Centerville, and Ray Gilliam of Roberta; sisters, Doris Bellamy of Beach Island, South Carolina and Linda Weldon of Cordele.

  Services were held March 21 in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home with Rev. James Miller officiating. Interment Eastlawn Memorial Park. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Lois Jackson

  Lois Jackson, age 78, of McDonough, Georgia died  March 18, 2008. She was born in Coffee County to the late Freeman and Ethel Wilcox Taylor. She was a devoted wife of 63 years and a loving mother and grandmother. Mrs. Jackson was also preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia Ann Free-man; grandson, Leonard Edward Todd; sister, Inez Taylor; and brother, Felton Taylor.

  Mrs. Jackson is survived by her husband, Ed Jackson; daughters, Elaine (Billy) Hobby, Betty Lois (Vernon) Waters, all of McDonough; grandchildren, Joel Hobby, Kristi Seagraves, Curtis Waters, Brian Waters; seven great grandchildren; siblings, Willie Mae Hutto and Ruby Thompson, both of McDonough,  Bernice Smith of Baxley, Paul Taylor of Ludowici, Velma Miness of Hinesville and Sarah Mosley of Ludowici.
